Cloud Castles

Let me be graceful in cherishing, clinging,
      Let me not burden or smother with love -
Let him but answer me strongly and truly,
      Tender, as nurtures a seaman the dove
Wounded and little, and lost in the tempest;
      Let me, on seeking, find always a rest
Deep in the hold of his heart's secret dwelling.

Let us be merry, for love is a summer;
      Let us be faithful, for life is so fleet -
Let us together explore its adventures,
      Casting out bitterness, keeping the sweet.
Let us find loyalty, grow rich in friendship,
      Let us be glad with the beauty of earth.
Let us touch God in our everyday living -
      Kindness our lodestar, and loving, and mirth.
